Alternative-facts aside, Oracle made some updates over the past few winter months to DRM, EPM, and the cloud. Here’s a quick round-up of the news, fun new features, and resources to get more information.
DRM 11.1.2.4.343 Patch
Oracle released the .343 patch on January 6, with just a few new features in the release. The patch does require an 11.1.2.4 minimum installation, under patch number 25144391 on Oracle Support.
This patch’s only New Features are two new properties available for use with the RequestItemDetailObject when using dynamic scripting (JavaScript) in workflow tasks:
- HasCalcValue
- CalcValue
Dynamic scripting allows for more mobility within DRM than the inherent DRM formula language. When working through a workflow request item using dynamic scripting, you are now able to use 1) if there is a property with a calculated value, and 2) what the calculated value is.
This patch New Features list is pretty small, but if you are not yet on the .341 or .342 patch of DRM which includes many DRG fixes, you might as well go up to .343.
Also a number of bug fixes. Includes DRG/workflow updates, export updates, and automation/insertion issues when running batches or action scripts.

FDMEE Patch11.1.2.4.200
Oracle released the .210 patch to FDMEE in late December 2016, which included tons of new features and functionality. Before installing this patch, FDMEE should be at least 11.1.2.4.000 (or greater). On Oracle support, search for bug #23041471 to get the readme and download links.
Notable features and improvements:
- Text-based data loads for all data types
- Loading multi-column numeric data
- This functionality was available in the16.10 update of Data Management Cloud Service first, by the way.
- Loading multi-period in single file
- The import format now supports definition for periods, year, and the period number
- Support for FCCS and Fusion GL Fusion Cloud Balances
- Covers integration both to and from FCCS and GL Fusion Cloud
- Helps synchronize data from on-prem GLs to FCCS, or from GL Fusion Cloud to other applications (both on-prem and cloud, like PBCS)
- Executing custom scripts from command line
Francisco Amores has done a wonderful (and more timely) job recapping all the features and functionality of this patch in his blog Fishing with FDMEE – check out his post here.
Full list of new features:
- Loading Multi-Column Numeric Data
- Loading Multi-Period in a Single File
- Hybrid Support for Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud and Fusion GL Cloud Balances

Mini EPM Cloud Updates
There aren’t been any radical updates to any cloud applications so far in January 2017 (17.01 release), but Oracle is still communicating the stoppage of support of the Financial Reporting Studio Desktop Client, which is currently scheduled for May 2017, which includes distribution.
“Oracle will not distribute Financial Reporting Studio desktop client after May 2017.”
Even with this dire news for Financial Reporting Studio desktop client, they did make a few defect fixes in December 2016 with patch 11.1.2.4.704. It’s just an in-place install, so you can install it over your current instance to get the following updates:
Defect Number | Defect Fixed |
20888991 | Select Financial Reporting Preferences dialog in Polish result in error. |
22456928 | ‘ScheduedBatchCacheTime’ preference is not working properly. |

25027711 | Batch Bursting fails when using pipe symbol in member name. |
25078304 | Reports with large text members failed to render in PDF format. |
25078500 | Condition Suppression failed on Essbase hierarchy with level zero shared Member. |
25109398 | When using Planning data source, if string is large integer, Export to Excel may output as Date type. |
25167114 | Bottom border is not displaying in reports. |
25177305 | Original defect 25059253: HTML view of book not loads reports. |
However, the Financial Reporting Studio Web Client has made significant improvements in features and functionality, and should have most of the functionality of the legacy desktop client at this point. If you are starting your reports build, my suggestion would be to build them in the Web Client.
I was expecting to see the functionality from the PBCS 16.12 update (that potentially caused SmartView connectivity issues) that was not released to Production, but haven’t seen any updates on this so far for January 2017.
Hi,
My question is not specific to above post , But it is regarding DRG export.
Could please suggest me that how we are going to export the DRG request.
DRG request like
1. How many DRG request came into the system in the current month and what are they.
2.By whom it was submitted and where the members/nodes were added.
3.How many of them are processed and how many are rejected.
Hi,
You can only view DRG requests that have completed a workflow, and are not inflight requests. This is possible thru the Audit feature, and selecting the Audit Type dropdown to “Requests”. There are many filters you can select here, version, hierarchy, by date, created by & updated by user, etc. to show which requests have transitioned into data updates. You can download the results in Excel, Text, PDF, and CSV format.
Unfortunately, things that are not yet committed or rejected are not available, the Audit screen even has this info message: “Requests available in the Worklist are not recorded in the Request History.”
Administrators can see the list of requests that are in-flight in their “Worklist: All” view. But this is not easily extracted thru the interface, like Script results or Hierarchies.
Hope this helps!

Thanks a lot Kate .
It helps a lot.. 🙂
Hi Kate ,
Coming back to first question.
But those can be exported from the database right ?
Regards
Dilip
Hi Kate ,
I am back again with question 🙂
I want to track all the changes/updates which are happened in the month . I know like we can check the changes using “As of version”. But I want to track using Export functionality so that I can run it every month to track all my changes which happen in the last month. Is their any way to do it ?
Regards
Dilip
Hi,
I think it depends on how you are doing versioning – are you doing a monthly copy-forward? Or copying back from a master version? if you are copying forward, I would recommend using the Audit functionality to get all changes (or selected Actions using filtering) and export all from the monthly version. It should layer all transactions/changes from the baseline to the current working version.
If you are copying backwards and have a master version, this is a little more tricky. You’d have to specify exactly the start time and end time to capture the changes on the master version, since the baseline is from when the master version was created, likely several months ago.
You can do these manually thru the interface fairly easily, which I recommend you do each month at copy version time, and save for audit purposes. You can also create a Transaction Log export (Add new export, select Log Exports > Transaction Log). And it allows the same filtering as the Audit feature. If you do a monthly copy process and copy forward, and set your version variables correctly, this export can be saved and run via the batch client on a monthly schedule without any manual changes or maintenance.
Hope this helps,

Hi Kate,
Hope you are doing great..
Kate could you please guide me or share your inputs , in how to configure the DRM with HFM and Planning.
In how many ways we can migrate the data from DRM to Planning and HFM.
Please share your inputs.
Hi Dilip,
Are you using classic or EPMA for Planning/HFM?
If EPMA, I would use either an ADS file or create an interface table for EPMA to pull the updates from DRM. Your DRM exports would create an ADS file, or push the data directly into the table for EPMA to pick up.
You can then create the batch scripts to export the data from DRM, and then run EPMA to pull in the updates and then re-deploy both Planning & HFM.
If classic, you can use Outline Load Utility formatted files for Planning, and create an .APP file for HFM. The HFM upload of the .APP would be done by an administrator.
Hope this helps,

Hi Kate,
Thanks a lot for the replay .Can we use FDMEE as the interface instead of tables ?.
If Yes could you please guide me or if you have any document for it . Could you please share it to me please.
